Ouderkerk
From Amsterdam we sail to Ouderkerk aan de Amstel.
In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Heren van Amstel were vassals of the bishop of Utrecht and later of the counts of Holland.
They have rebelled against their feudal lords several times, but that did not end well.
The centuries-old Portuguese-Jewish cemetery Beth Haim with sculpted graves unique to the Netherlands is probably the place where the castle of the Heren van Amstel stood, from which the Amstelland was mined and later Amsterdam also originated.

Abcoude
We arrive in Abcoude via Ouderkerk aan de Amstel and a beautiful open landscape.
Abcoude is a village and former municipality in the northwest of the Dutch province of Utrecht, bordering the municipality of Amsterdam.
The municipality was created on 1 May 1941 from the merger of the former municipalities of Abcoude-Baambrugge and Abcoude-Proostdij and merged on 1 January 2011 with the municipality of De Ronde Venen.
Due to border changes, Abcoude previously belonged to the Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland.
Nauwe Gein, Abcoude
Gein
Via the narrow (water) street in Abcoude we continue on the river Gein towards Amsterdam southeast. The Gein is a river of about 6 km in length between Driemond and Abcoude.
The part within Abcoude to the Angstel is called, because it is very narrow there, the Nauwe Gein where the Bridge Nauwe Gein connects the Kerkplein with the Hoogstraat.
Around 1905 the river and its surroundings were regularly painted by Piet Mondriaan.
He painted the Eastern Silk Mill more than twenty times. Between 1893-1905.
